Working on some new pieces for an upcoming summer show at the Okotoks Art Gallery! There is an optional themed component to the exhibit (lavender & daisies) which is great for inspiring me to try new things. The process for this one was a bit unusual, I normally sketch out the concept for each painting in pencil but this one just wasn’t cooperating. Best solution for me when that happens is to use a different medium so I ended up “sketching” it out in chalk pastel. Haven’t used those for years but it got the progress train rolling again =) Here are the two versions side by side:

It was beautiful outside this past weekend so I spent some time in the sunshine planting the garden and painting!
