That’s A Wrap! Last Paintings Of 2021 & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Welp, another year in the history books. I managed to get quite creative for most of it, 75 paintings in total. I am so grateful that some art shows happened this year and that I got to see so many of you in person. 

 

I always like to end the year by putting together a time capsule, something to commemorate the milestones, highlights & significant events, etc. Sofar, I have wine corks and masks. Tee hee…

New Paintings & Joyous December!

 

Tis the season! Kindness, generosity, wishes, dreams, and magical nights at the fireside. Hot cocoa, fuzzy socks and the joy of kith and kin. Art shows have wrapped up for the year & my local art haunts have all been updated with new displays; so now I’m focused on creating and doing elf things =)

 

When I’m not busy baking (or eating) all the cookies, I’ve been toiling away on some new holiday themed paintings & practicing my snowflakes.

Poppy, Butterflies & Yuletide!

Bit of a painting hiatus this past while, it was nice to get back at it! It’s like riding a bike…right? More like a unicycle! I was compelled to create something in honor of Remembrance Day and inspiration fired immediately. Then I decided to try metal etching some butterflies, a fine selection of dental tools scraping on metal, sounded horrendous! But it was worth it. Last but not least, headfirst into all things festive!

The Okotoks Art Gallery (OAG) is busy setting up for the Spirit of Christmas! The exhibit opens November 19^th and goes right up until Christmas. Gallery displays include ornaments, jewelry, trinkets and, of course, ART! Lots of gift ideas, big and small.

New Metal Works, Table, Moon & HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

 These metal paintings require a lot of open air and ventilation, I don’t know what I’ll do in the winter! So, I’m trying to do as many as I can while it’s still nice outside. I also swapped mediums for a few days (trading paint supplies for mig welder) and made a table! What a puzzle that was! Definitely had to dust off my math skills. …And I only looked at the spark with my bare eyes once! I call it a suspension table. I also squeezed in a moon painting in my usual acrylic medium, here’s the latest:

It was weird going back to regular ol’ painting… paint properties, dry times, opacity are all very different. Far less toxic and fumy so I didn’t need my respirator!

 Who’d have thunk it!?! My 500^th painting has sold! (and I am absolutely beside myself!) It’s amazing to think that so many of my creations have made their way into homes and private collections across the globe! I am so grateful for all the enthusiasm and support! I love creating art but even moreso when they find their way good homes. Thank you one and all! 

I’ve had metal art on my mind and pretty much nothing else… Instead of sketching cute critters to paint, I’m sketching out grinding patterns.

The detail on this one was especially satisfying, painting with rainbows!

 

I decided to do a couple custom variations on this popular theme. Good practice with the various techniques and maintaining consistency. The color combinations for this are endless!
